Some 4.2 million money transfers worth 57.1 trillion tenge were carried out in Kazakhstan using payment systems of Kazakhstan's National Bank in February 2020, which is 44.5 percent more in volume and 1.5 percent more in value than in January 2020, Trend reports with reference to the data of Kazakhstan’s National Bank.
On average, 211,600 transactions worth 2.8 trillion tenge ($6.2 billion) were implemented daily.
The volume of transactions using plastic cards of Kazakh issuers amounted to 192.2 million transactions worth 3.2 trillion tenge ($7.09 billion) in Feb. 2020, which means an increase by 14.9 percent in volume and by 13.7 percent in value compared to Jan. 2020.
In turn, the share of non-cash payments in total structure of operations using plastic cards of Kazakh issuers amounted to 85.7 percent in Feb. 2020 compared to Jan. 2020 in volume, and to 60. 2 percent compared to 59.3 percent by value.
Total number of plastic cards issued by 22 Kazakh banks and Kazpost amounted to 35 million as of Mar. 1, 2020, and some 57 percent of them were used in Feb. 2020.
Furthermore, total volume of funds sent via international systems of money transfers amounted to 0.2 million transfers worth 47.1 billion ($104.4 million) in Feb. 2020, which is 8.3 percent more in value compared to Jan. 2020.
Out of the total volume of transfers, some 80.7 percent (0.2 million) of total volume or 93.1 percent of total value (43.8 billion tenge or $97.1 million) accounted for transfers from Kazakhstan to other countries. Some 19.3 percent of total volume (0.04 million) and 6.9 percent of total value (3.2 billion tenge or $7.09 million) accounted for transfers in Kazakhstan. The remaining 0.1 million transfers worth 21.7 billion tenge ($48.1 million) accounted for transfers from other countries to Kazakhstan.
Total number of payment systems operating in Kazakhstan as of Mar. 1, 2020 is 16 systems, including those of National Bank, systems of money transfers and systems of plastic cards.
