Azerbaijan sees growth in average monthly transactions through ATMs

Nearly 4,000 people accounted for one payment terminal in Azerbaijan, including ATMs and POS-terminals as of early December 2020, Trend reports on Jan.14 referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the CBA, the average number of Azerbaijani residents per one payment terminal grew by 750 over the year.

The average monthly amount of transactions per ATM reached 633,300 manat ($372,530) for 2,640 transactions, showing year-on-year growth of 12 percent.

The average monthly volume of one transaction through an ATM as of early December 2020 equaled nearly 240.2 manat ($141.3), up by 4.25 percent compared to the same period in 2019.

The average monthly number of transactions through POS-terminals amounted to 5,720 manat ($3,360) for 81,200 transactions, having almost doubled over the year. The average monthly amount of one transaction through a POS- terminal was 70.5 manat ($41.47).

As of the reporting period, 2,688 ATMs operated in the country, of which 1,415 are in Baku, and 1,273 in other cities and districts of the country.

The number of POS terminals in the country amounted to 56,956, of which 37,439 were installed in Baku, and 19,517 - in other cities and regions of the country.
