Azerbaijan's consumer market volume slightly shrinks

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 2

The cost of the sold products and the rendered services decreased by 0.2 percent in Azerbaijan from January through May 2021 compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports with reference to the report of the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee.

This figure was equal to 18.5 billion manat ($10.9 billion).

The cost of the sold products and the services rendered by business entities in the private sector decreased by 0.4 percent compared to the period from January through May 2020 and amounted to 17.7 billion manat ($10.4 billion), of which 46.8 percent were formed due to the activity of individual entrepreneurs.

The State Statistics Committee stressed that one consumer spent on average 369.1 manat ($217.1) per month from January through May 2021 or 12.3 manat ($7.2) more in nominal terms compared to the same period of 2020.

The World Bank predicts the growth of the consumer market in Azerbaijan by 3.7 percent in 2021, 3.6 percent in 2022, and 3.5 percent in 2023.
