Old Gigabeat Upgraded to Slimmer Toshiba T802 Portable Media Player

( Mobile ) - I wonder if this upgraded version will serve as the platform for next-generation Microsoft Zune. Whatever the case, Toshiba has decided to upgrade their Gigabeat line of portable media players with the revealing of the Toshiba Gigabeat T802. This slim player's got it going on!

As the successor to the Gigabeat T401, the Toshiba T802 comes filled with all sorts of cool features. For starters, you get a huge color display for all yoru video-watching and menu-navigating needs. You can also say goodbye to a power-sucking spinning platter, because the T802 comes with 8GB of flash memory. This presumably helps out the battery life, which is now rated at 16 hours of MP3 music and 5 hours of WMV video.

Perhaps the single greatest upgrade is the inclusion of wireless network connectivity. I can't say how far this connectivity goes, but wouldn't it be awesome if you could upload and/or stream songs from your home computer? Look for it in Japan starting next Friday. The Toshiba Gigabeat T802 will retail for about $280.
