Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies considers the appeal of the Azerbaijani mobile operator Azercell Telecom LLC in detail for the issuance of licenses for providing telecommunications services in the 3G standard, Communications and Information Technologies minister Ali Abbasov said today.

The minister said that today there are only a few factors which are being studied in detail in accordance with the requirements of the license, and therefore, if the documents submitted by the company will not have problems, Azercell Telecom will receive a license to provide 3G services.

The official cost of the license set by the government is 11,000 manats.

At present, the only company that has license to provide telecommunications services in the 3G standard is Azerfon Company.

Operators, which obtained a license, will have to invest huge funds in the infrastructure. Companies will have to upgrade all network equipment, all switchboards, each base station.

Participants of the mobile communication market are confident that the next two years will be the base for 3G networks.
