Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 26
By Huseyn Valiyev – Trend:
Users will be able to activate the e-signature in the new IDs in Azerbaijan in the near future, a source in the IT market of Azerbaijan told Trend.
It is not yet known whether the e-signature will be paid or free, however, according to the new rules, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan will pay 21 percent of the amount of servicing new IDs.
“Considering this, the ministry should determine such a cost of e-signature so that it would allow maintaining the infrastructure,” the source said. “For mass use of e-signature by Azerbaijani citizens, it would be acceptable if the e-signatures are free.”
The validity period of the e-signature integrated into the chips of IDs will be five years. Presently, this period is limited to three years, and the e-signature’s cost for citizens is 18 manats, for individuals and legal entities - 36 manats and 72 manats, respectively, and for state employees - 58 manats.
IDs are issued to citizens of Azerbaijan in stages.
The certification center processes requests from the personalization centers operating under the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry. The certification center prepares certificates on the basis of the received requests and sends them back.
(1.7 manats = 1 USD on Sept. 26)
