By Huseyn Valiyev – Trend:

The Scientific-Research Institute of Crop Husbandry of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture has implemented the AGRO-Monitor pilot project for the implementation of the remote monitoring of land and environment, Rasim Ibrahimov, director of SPECTRA High Technologies company, told Trend on Nov. 28.

SPECTRA High Technologies, fulfilling the functions of a system integrator, was chosen as the structure entrusted with the technical work.

Ibrahimov added that the project is associated with environmental monitoring.

“The project is being developed,” he said. “We are trying to automate more complex tasks. At the same time, we are negotiating with several big agricultural holdings on the implementation of various systems for automation of agriculture based on Internet of Things technology.”

“These technologies can be used to automate various areas of agriculture, for example, in plant growing, animal husbandry, gardening, processing, storage, logistics, etc.," Ibrahimov said.

The module of "AGRO-Monitor" system allows to receive, process and predict the available information, as well as to give recommendations to the farms.

"All this can be predicted in advance using modern analytical methods,” he said. “Moreover, we also propose to use a geographic information system (GIS) solution, which is a kind of complex thematic maps through which one can view specific items. All items on the map are digital. Potentially, this solution may be interesting for the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Ecology, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism."
