In the framework of the visit of Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdullah Aripov to the headquarters of Huawei in Shenzhen (China) on August 29, a Memorandum was signed on allocating a soft loan from China for the development of the telecommunications network of the Uzbek mobile operator UMS, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
A loan of $150 million will be used to finance UMS investment projects using Huawei equipment in 2020-2023.
The projects include the implementation of technical and technological re-equipment of the mobile operator UMS, the expansion of the penetration of 4G / 3G networks in all regions of the country, as well as the phased implementation of 5G networks.
In sparsely populated areas, it is planned to connect social facilities such as educational institutions and medical institutions, to the global Internet, which will accelerate the introduction of modern technologies in educational processes and the provision of medical care.
The implementation of new investment projects also will expand and accelerate the implementation of the strategic plans of UMS, increase its contribution to the development of the digital economy in Uzbekistan, implement social initiatives, and improve the quality of the services provided to consumers.
