No general need for unlimited tariffs in Azerbaijan - Azerfon

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 22

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

There is no general need for an unlimited tariffs on mobile devices in Azerbaijan, CEO of Azerbaijan’s Nar mobile operator (Azerfon LLC) Gunnar Pahnke told Trend.

According to Pahnke, the company has an unlimited number of offers.

“Now it is basically an unlimited night plan. Due to the nature of the mobile network, in which all customers share the available capacity, we try to avoid the small number of customers using unlimited tariffs degrading the quality of service for everyone else. In addition, most customers have the ability to use fixed networks at home or work for data-intensive use, and this also reflects the normal behavior of customers when using data-intensive applications such as IPTV or YouTube,” Pahnke said.

“In particular, video services are best viewed on the big screen at home. That is why I think it is important to understand that using the mobile network is generally different from using the fixed network - so there is no general need for unlimited data on mobile devices,” the CEO added.

Pahnke stressed that there is a certain segment of customers who require a mobile network to meet many of their data usage needs.

“This is mainly true for customers who do not have a suitable fixed network. As an example, we can see that many unlimited night users are users who have no way to switch to Wi-Fi. For these clients, we, responding to their needs, offer such tariffs,” the CEO stressed.

“On the other hand, for the vast majority of customers, the size of the current data packets on the market fully covers their current needs. For example, we offer a 40-gigabyte package. In addition, we offer an educational package using 50 GB for MS Teams and Zoom apps - an offer that obviously became necessary during the coronavirus pandemic when there was a sudden need for homeschooling,” he said.

“In general, it is recorded that customers are well provided with the offers that we currently provide, but, of course, we closely monitor the development of their needs and respond quickly in case of changes in specific use models,” the CEO of the company added.
