Azerbaijani-Russian cooperation in the ICT sector is a priority of bilateral relations, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia told Trend on August 2.
According to the ministry, the relevant state structures of Azerbaijan and Russia have established a constant active dialogue, including within the implementation of the provisions of the Roadmap for the development of cooperation in the field of innovative development and the digital economy.
"Software and telecommunications equipment from Russia is quite popular in Azerbaijan. So, in all Azerbaijani schools, the ‘Algorithmic’ computer science training program, developed by Russian experts, has been introduced into the curriculum,” the ministry said. “Yandex company is actively developing its services in Azerbaijan, and ‘Code security’ company together with Azerbaijani IT specialists is ready to create a new line of Azerbaijan-made products to protect data inside the country. These products will also have broad export prospects.”
Besides, the ministry stressed that last year Azerbaijan became the leader among the buyers of telecommunication equipment manufactured in Moscow.
"The total export of Moscow-made telecommunications equipment in 2020 amounted to about $270 million, or 73 percent of the total Russian export of this product. Of this volume, more than $85 million fell on supplies to Azerbaijan," added the ministry.
