BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 9. Azerbaijan received 95,871 tourists from Central Asian countries from January through September 2023, which is 29.87 percent higher year-on-year (73,823), Trend reports.
The data of the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan shows that the number of tourists from Kazakhstan amounted to 42,124 (88.28 percent growth over year), Uzbekistan - 27,976 (59.16 percent growth over year), Turkmenistan - 18,494 (2.87 times growth over year), Kyrgyzstan - 3,841 (77.74 percent growth over year), Tajikistan - 3,436 (86.94 percent growth over year).
A total of 1.53 million tourists visited Azerbaijan from January through September 2023 (32.11 percent growth).
Earlier in 2022, a total of 1.6 million foreign citizens visited Azerbaijan, which is more than double the figure of 2021 (790,062), and 73,823 people from Central Asian countries, which is 4.75 times higher year-on-year (15,516).
