Spanish company considers opening car-making plant in Uzbekistan

Spanish Rodriguez Lopez Auto Company is considering the possibility of opening in Uzbekistan its regional automotive plant, Trend reports referring to Embassy of Uzbekistan in Madrid (Spain).

Representatives of Uzbekistan and the company discussed the implementation of a joint investment project for the production of ambulances and special vehicles based on commercial vehicles in Uzbekistan.

The meeting, organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Madrid, was attended by employees of the Ministries of Investment and Foreign Trade, Health, Defense and Uz Truck and Bus Motors.

The Spanish side was represented by the Executive Director of Rodriguez Lopez Auto Jose Enrique Rodriguez Jorge and manager of the ANEA National Emergency Medicine Federation Francisco Javier Rodriguez Mercadiles.

During the negotiations, the Spanish company noted that, taking into account the experience of Uzbekistan in the automotive industry, as well as the demand for these products in the countries of Central Asia and the CIS in general, it is considering opening its regional automotive plant with a capacity of 500 cars per year for territory of Uzbekistan.

Representatives of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan expressed interest in cooperation with the Spanish company, in particular, to meet the needs of departments in modern and well-equipped ambulances.

As a result of the negotiations, a decision was made to further develop the project with the participation of the UzAuto Motors JSC, as well as to study the regulatory requirements of the ministries for the purchased special equipment and the proposals of the Spanish company.
