The project of connecting the Ilam province railway to the national railway network is accelerated by credit, said Deputy Governor in civil construction at Ilam Province.
One of the projects defined in the budget plan for the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2021) is the connection of the province to the railway network, the assigned credit in the budget would accelerate the project, Ahmad Karami told Trend in an interview.
"Total of $42 million has been assigned to this project to connect Islamabad to Ilam, Mehran, Dehloran, and Andimeshk," he noted.
The official went on to say the project has started from Islamabad that is chose as the first phase of the project by the contractor however it requires the construction of a 72-kilometer rail to connect to the province capital. In the first phase, 17.5 kilometers has been installed in the route.
Karami has indicated the Ilam governorate's plan to create two new border markets with Iraq.
"Opening two border markets are on the governorate plans, a major part of the plan that includes infrastructure has been implemented and in this regard, a meeting was held in Ilam attended by Iraqi officials recently," Karami added.
"The follow-up for the inauguration of new border crossing via markets is ongoing. Due to good economic relations and the history of the two countries, which have many cultural commonalities, markets will be set up and there will be a change in the economic prosperity of the region," he emphasized.
