Number of trucks crossing via Iran's Jolfa border checkpoint increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 12

The number of trucks crossing through the Jolfa border checkpoint in the East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran) increased by 18 percent during the first six months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through September 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of East-Azerbaijan Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization Orujali Alizadeh said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.

Alizadeh noted that a total of 32,700 trucks crossed the Jolfa border checkpoint within 6 months.

He also added that 275,000 tons of goods exported and imported through the Jolfa border checkpoint over six months. In addition, 237,000 tons of goods were transited through this checkpoint during the reporting period.

According to the director general, 21,900 people crossed the Jolfa border checkpoint in 6 months.

As reported, the Jolfa border checkpoint is located on the border with Iran and Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
