BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 9. The cargo traffic through the Azerbaijani section of the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) exceeded 24.253 million tons from January through June 2022, up by 19.3 percent compared to the same period of 2021, the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan told Trend.
In the reporting period, the freight turnover via the Azerbaijani segment of TRACECA rose above 6.005 billion ton-kilometers, which was 25.6 percent more than in the first half of 2021.
During this time, over 13.079 million tons, or 53.9 percent of Azerbaijan's overall cargo transport volume were transported by road, more than 7.914 million tons (32.6 percent) – by rail, whereas over 3.259 million tons (13.5 percent) – by sea.
Out of the total cargo traffic volume, transit cargo transportation accounted for more than 6.621 million tons (27.3 percent).
