BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 10. Iran plans to produce and put into use new passenger planes in the country within the next 3 years, Iranian Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and the head of the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization (CAO), Mohammad Mohammadibakhsh told reporters in Tehran on October 10, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

The deputy minister noted that the mentioned passenger planes are planned to be produced with the tripartite cooperation of the Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade and the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics.

“These planes will have a capacity of 72 and 150 passengers. In addition, air taxis for 12 and 17 people are planned to be produced in the country,” he added.

According to Mohammadibakhsh, special attention is paid to the domestic production of small planes and air taxis in Iran. So, it is possible to solve the existing problems in transport in this way.

The official also pointed out that Iran currently needs 550 passenger planes. Iran will overcome this need through domestic production, as well as by purchasing new and used passenger planes.
