BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 24. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port of the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran), increased by 11.3 percent in the 6th month of the current Iranian year (August 23 through September 22, 2022), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
According to the statistics, 4.28 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the 6th month. Of this, 1.81 million tons were loaded and about 2.47 million tons were unloaded.
“Also, 1.69 million tons of cargo were exported and 2.24 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the reporting month. At the same time, 46,400 tons of cargo were loaded and 4,640 in the port for transit,” the statistics said.
Within the 6th month, 61,000 tons of cargo were loaded and about 212,000 tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage.
According to the statistics, 8,610 tons of cargo were loaded and 5,230 tons were unloaded in this port for transshipment. Furthermore, 2,780 tons of cargo were loaded, and 4,020 tons were unloaded for other purposes.
So, about 1.67 million tons of essential products, about 182,000 tons of metal products, 438,000 tons of construction and mining materials, 28 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts, and 347,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the 6th month of the current Iranian year.
Moreover, 81,900 tons of leather, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, about 103,000 tons of container products, and 1.47 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.
In general, about 13.6 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 6th month of the current Iranian year. Of this, about 6.67 million tons were loaded and about 6.5 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 6 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
