BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 13. There are currently 175 passenger planes operating in Iran, Iranian Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and the head of the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization (CAO), Mohammad Mohammadibakhsh said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

Meanwhile, at the end of last Iranian year (March 20, 2022), the figure stood at 98 passenger planes, according to Mohammadibakhsh.

“In addition, necessary steps are being taken to repair and put 155 passenger planes back into use in the country,” the deputy minister added.

The chairman also noted that at present, Iran has a total of 330 passenger planes but there is a need for 550 passenger planes in the country's airports.

Mohammadibakhsh said that the purchase of new and used passenger planes is on the agenda of the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization. In this regard, discussions were held about the allocation of the needed funds.
