BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 27. Cargo transit through the customs of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province in the south-east of the country, decreased by 13 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022), Director for the Economic Affairs Department of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province Governor Office Mojtaba Shojaei told IRNA, Trend reports.
According to Shojaei, approximately 859,000 tons of cargo were transited through the province’s customs for the last Iranian year.
The director said that the mentioned volume of cargo was transited by 42,000 trucks and 983 freight wagons.
“Auto spare parts, agricultural products, cement, sulfur and etc. were the main transited products via the province’s customs within the mentioned period,” Shojaei noted.
He also added that the cargo was transited to Afghanistan, Pakistan, China, Azerbaijan, the UAE, India, and Iraq via customs of Sistan and Baluchestan Province last year.
Meanwhile, more than 12 million tons of cargo were transited through Iran within the first 11 months of the last Iranian year, which is an increase of 5.22 percent compared to the same period in the preceding Iranian year.
