ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, March 1. Turkmenistan's Demirýollary OJSC national railway carrier holds a number of events in the railway industry of Turkmenistan in order to develop transit, import and export cargo transportation, as well as accelerate the transit time of trains through the territory of the country, Trend reports.
The carrier has reduced the transit time of trains and the delivery time of transit goods in February 2024.
Thus, it took 35 hours for a freight train to move from Sarakhs to the Farap border crossing, 17 hours 38 minutes from Farap to the Sarakhs border crossing, and 50 hours 30 minutes from Farap to the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.
At the same time, freight trains from Serkhetyak to the Serkhetabat border crossing take 60 hours 30 minutes, and from Etrek to the Serkhetabat border crossing in 17 hours 45 minutes.
Meanwhile, in recent years, Turkmenistan has seen a marked development of rail transport, playing a key role in strengthening the country's transport infrastructure.
The introduction of new technologies, the improvement of railway stations and the improvement of the quality of passenger service contribute to an increase in traffic volumes and create a favorable environment for the development of the economy of the country.
