Kazakh Minister of Education and Science Bakhytzhan Zhumagulov met with ISESCO Director General Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri in Astana, Kazinform reported referring to Ministry's press service.

ISESCO is Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

Minister Zhumagulov briefed on the key priorities of the country's education and science development outlined in the state-run education development program for 2011-2020 and a new Law "On education", and a new classification of the higher institutions.

Astana is hosting 38th session of OIC Council of Foreign Ministers on 28-30 June. At the meeting Tajikistan transferred chairmanship in the organization to Kazakhstan. Also the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) has been renamed as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Meeting with Zhumagulov, ISESCO Directo General expressed his deep admiration of Kazakhstan. He is confident that Islamic world has entered a new stage of its development thanks to the initiatives of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

In the first day of OIC conference President Nazarbayev was awarded ISESCO highest award for his contribution in fostering Islamic solidarity.

Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri presented gold sign "ISESCO Shield" to Nazarbayev for his efforts in enhancing joint Islamic action, fostering Islamic solidarity and promoting humanitarian values at the global level.
