(gazeta.kz) - Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Foreign Minister of Germany, will pay an official visit to Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, stated yesterday, October 30, at a traditional briefing in Astana.
According to Mr. Ashikbayev the visit will take place from 31 October to 1 November. "The official delegation visiting our country will also include a group of MPs representing all political factions in the Bundestag and heads of leading German companies," - he said.
The diplomat explained that "the purpose of the visit is an exchange of opinions on implementation of previously reached agreements and discussion of issues related with the bilateral co-operation."
"A presentation of the new EU strategy in Central Asia will be carried out during the visit. The Kazakhstani side directly participated in the development of this strategy," - Mr. Ashikbayev said. According to him, this strategy worked out by the German MFA taking into consideration propositions of the Kazakhstani side, will be adopted during the chairmanship of Germany in the EU in the first half of 2007, reports Trend.
"Meetings with the Kazakhstani government members, as well as a business forum with participation of Kazakhstani and German business circles are going to take place during the visit," - Mr. Ashikbayev stated.
