Tajikistan increases electricity exports to Uzbekistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 27. Tajikistan increased the value of electricity supplies to Uzbekistan from January through June 2022, Trend reports with reference to the Customs Service of Tajikistan.

The total value of Tajik electricity exports to Uzbekistan in the reporting period amounted to $12.2 million, which is an increase of 10.9 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year ($11 million).

Overall, Tajikistan in the first half of 2022 exported electricity worth $31.8 million. The main importing countries of electricity from Tajikistan in the reporting period were: Afghanistan ($19.1 million) and Uzbekistan ($12.2 million).

Meanwhile, at the beginning of July 2022, the World Bank (WB) approved an additional grant in the amount of $80 million as part of the ongoing energy development project in Tajikistan.
