BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 8. World Food programme (WFP) revealed an average monthly wage of skilled and unskilled laborers in Tajikistan in June 2022, Trend reports citing the WFP's report.
According to the WFP, the monthly average wage of skilled laborers in the reporting period was about 2,179 somoni ($213.6), and of unskilled laborers is about 1,519 somoni ($148.9).
The daily wages of skilled and unskilled laborers in farming and construction work reflects the income source for some of the most vulnerable households of Tajikistan.
"Laborers of Tajikistan get jobs for 4-6 days a week on average. Thus, an average wage for skilled labor in June was 109 somoni ($10.2) and for unskilled labor was 76 somoni ($7.4) per day," the organization said.
At the same time, the average cost of the household food basket in June was 1,714 somoni ($168) per month. Hence, skilled laborers earned slightly more than what was needed to afford at least one household food basket in a month.
