DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 12. A total of 11 state investment projects, amounting to $175 million, were completed in Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe, from January through June 2023, the First Deputy Chairman of Dushanbe City, Jamshed Tabarzoda, said, Trend reports.
He noted that the total inflow of foreign investments into Dushanbe reached $154 million from January through March 2023, which is 2.9 times higher than the same period in the previous year.
Throughout this period, the capital city hosted 31 enterprises and organizations with foreign capital. Among these were 16 companies with a combined capital of $23.4 million in direct investments and 15 enterprises with a combined capital of $130.5 million in other forms of investment.
Earlier, Saadi Kodirzoda, the Chairman of the State Committee on Investment and State Property Management of Tajikistan, reported that Kazakhstan had emerged as the leading contributor to Tajikistan's economy, investing $83.5 million in the country.
Behind Kazakhstan, China held the second-highest position among investors, providing a contribution of $59.6 million. Additionally, Italy invested over $44 million, India invested $22.1 million, Russia contributed $20.9 million, and the UK, alongside several other foreign countries, collectively contributed $12.1 million.
Kodirzoda emphasized that foreign investors showed a strong interest in the country's mining, processing, and construction sectors.
