Road-driven cargo transportation tops up in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan. November 27. More than 91.473 million tons of cargo were transported via road transport in Tajikistan from January through October 2023, accounting for 94.6 percent of the total volume of goods transported by all modes of transport, Trend reports.

Data from the Statistics Agency under the President of Tajikistan indicates that the volume of goods transported by road increased by 15.2 percent from January through October 2023 compared to the same period in 2022.

According to a breakdown of commodities transported by road across the country, the Khatlon region moved 33.119 million tons of goods, accounting for 36.2 percent of the total volume of transported items. The quantity was 27.916 million tons (30.5 percent) in the Sughd region, 855,300 tons (0.9 percent) in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), 14.87 million tons (16.1 percent) in Dushanbe, and 14.87 million tons (16.3 percent) in the republican subordinate districts.

Overall, more than 96.733 million tons of cargo were transported in Tajikistan by all modes of transport from January through October 2023, representing an increase of 14.7 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
