"The grandiose, great things," will be implemented in Turkmenistan in 2012 President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said in his New Year address.
"We rely on the inexhaustible strength and indomitable will of our people in their work. We will be working with a growing determination and inspirations uniting us more closely, as we all have one objective, to turn our country into a prosperous state," Mr Berdymukhamedov said.
One of the first and the most significant events in Turkmenistan this year will be the Presidential election, the statement says
"As you know, an important political event will take place in the life of the country on February 12, 2012, when the presidential elections will be held. We are confident that this important political event will be held at the highest organisational level, in accordance with national law, on a competitive basis, subject to principles of democracy, openness and transparency, with the active participation of all segments of our society" Mr Berdymukhamedov said.
The president also wished success to all candidates nominated to the office of president.
