Turkmenistan sells base oil to UAE, Turkey, Afghanistan

The United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan and Turkey bought base oil from Turkmenistan for foreign currency at the auction of the State Commodity Exchange of Turkmenistan last week, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State news Agency.

The above-mentioned countries also purchased low-sulfur heating oil, that was produced at the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries of Turkmenistan for foreign currency.

In addition, cotton yarn and dry licorice root extract were bought for foreign currency by entrepreneurs from Great Britain, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Serbia, Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

Thus, the total amount of products purchased for foreign currency was $51.6 million.

The transactions were also made in Turkmen manat. Thus, entrepreneurs from Russia, the Great Britain, the United Arab Emirates, and Pakistan purchased cotton yarn and hand-made carpet products for a total of more than 9.7 million Turkmen manat ($2.7 million).

The entrepreneurs from Turkmenistan also purchased high-density polyethylene (Manufactured at Turkmengas State Concern), as well as cotton lint for the domestic market. Thus, the amount of transactions to the domestic market exceeded 43.6 million Turkmen manat ($12.4 million).

The state commodity exchange of Turkmenistan was established on July 29, 1994. It is the most important agency of state regulation of export-import operations.
