BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 10. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of Belgium Sapar Palvanov held a meeting with Secretary General of the Energy Charter Secretariat Guy Lentz, Trend reports citing Business Turkmenistan news agency.

During the meeting, the Ambassador noted that Turkmenistan, being one of the world's leading producers of hydrocarbons, stands for establishing broad international cooperation on energy security issues, and also attaches great importance to cooperation with the Energy Charter.

He stressed that within the framework of the Energy Charter, joint work should be focused mainly on the international legal regulation of the transit of gas, electricity, and oil.

Furthermore, Palvanov spoke about the work carried out in Turkmenistan to diversify the energy system, create and develop environmentally friendly high-tech and export-oriented national hydrogen energy and renewable energy sources, and also confirmed the readiness of the Turkmen side to cooperate with European countries in these areas.

In turn, the Secretary-General reported on the work on the modernization of the Energy Charter Treaty and the adoption of its wording during the current year, and also expressed special gratitude to the Turkmen side for its active and constructive participation in the work of relevant groups and in the negotiations held by the participating countries.
