BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 16. Turkmenistan and Tajikistan discussed topical issues and prospects of cooperation on a wide range of issues of political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian partnership, Trend reports.

According to the official source of Turkmenistan, these issues were discussed between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan Farrukh Homiddin Sharifzoda.

Meredov stated that the bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan are at a high level of partnership.

In this context, he stressed the importance of the state visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Tajikistan in May this year, which gave a new impetus to the further development of constructive dialogue between the two countries.

At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for the comprehensive support and assistance in the implementation of his diplomatic mission aimed at strengthening and expanding mutually beneficial ties between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.

Cooperation between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan is an important aspect of bilateral relations between the two countries. Both states are actively developing cooperation in various fields, including politics, economy, energy, transport and culture.

In the field of economic cooperation, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan are striving to strengthen trade ties and mutual investments. They are holding talks on expanding trade and cooperation in the energy sector, including gas and electricity supplies.
