Uzbekistan’s State Asset Management Agency to sell state stake in Coca-Cola Bottlers Uzbekistan

The State Asset Management Agency (SAMA) of Uzbekistan announced its intention to sell a 57.118 percent stake in the authorized capital of Coca-Cola Bottlers Uzbekistan Ltd (CCBU) through an open sale process, Trend reports referring to the press service of the agency.

According to the SAMA, the sale is organized as a competitive bidding process open to all interested parties.

At the first stage, interested parties must submit an application to the State Tender Commission to participate in the purchase of state assets by December 31. The term for consideration of pre-qualification applications is until January 14, 2021.

Interested parties are encouraged to submit an application in the form of a letter sent to the emails [email protected] and [email protected] no later than December 31, 2020.

At the second stage, the winner will be determined by the State Commission for Tendering in the Sale of State Property, taking into account the best combination of the price offer and the agreed terms of the purchase and sale agreement.

Rothschild & Cie is the financial consultant of the State Asset Management Agency for the privatization of the joint venture.

CCBU is the largest producer of carbonated soft drinks in Uzbekistan with a market share of approximately 47 percent in 2019, which is approximately 70 percent more than the nearest competitor. The company is authorized by its second-largest member (with a 42.882 percent share), The Coca-Cola Export Corporation (TCCEC) and the trademark owner, TCCC, to bottling, packaging, distributing, and selling Coca-Cola branded products in Uzbekistan in accordance with bottling agreement between CCBU, TCCEC, and TCCC.

CCBU's production facilities are represented by three enterprises - in Tashkent, Namangan, and Urgench. The company also has a modern warehouse network. In addition, it is planned to build a new enterprise in Samarkand. The company generated revenue of $1.45 trillion soums for the twelve months ended December 31, 2019 ($139 million).
