Uzbekistan boosts export of wood

The volume of wood and wood products export from Uzbekistan in 2020 in value terms increased by $45.1 million, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the State Statistics Committee, Uzbekistan in 2020 imported timber and wood products from 50 foreign countries worth $566.8 million.

The country with the largest share of imported timber and wood products from Uzbekistan in 2020 is Russia. The committee reports that wood and wood products worth $520 million was imported by this country.

Significantly less volume of Uzbek timber and wood products was imported by China, amounting to 18.8 million.

At the same time, Turkey and Belarus exported Uzbek timber and wood products worth $6.5 million and $4.2 million respectively.

In addition, Italy and Kyrgyzstan exported wood products worth $2.8 million each, Ukraine - 2.6 million, Kazakhstan - 2.6 million, South Korea - $1.7 million and Germany - $1.1 million.

Earlier it was reported that the volume of imports of building materials in Uzbekistan from January through October 2020 decreased by 11.9 percent compared to the same period in 2019.

Uzbekistan’s import of building materials for 10M2020 reached $974.5 million and amounted to 5.8 percent of its total volume. In the structure of imports, the main share was held by wood and wood products (48.1 percent), cement (10.8 percent), glass and glass products (5.2 percent), as well as asbestos (three percent).
