BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 13. SCO member states aim to strengthen mutual beneficial cooperation in the field of transport, Trend reports via Uzbek Ministry of Transport.

This issue was discussed on May 12, 2022, during the Ninth Meeting of Ministers of Transport of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization which was held in Khiva (Uzbekistan).

At the event, organized as part of the chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the SCO summit, issues related to developing and diversifying transport corridors and effectively using existing opportunities in this area were discussed.

Considering that the development of regional transport and transit potential is one of the important factors for the sustainable economic growth of the SCO member states, during the meeting the issues of forming a unified approach to creating a holistic and integrated transport system, the development of trade and economic relations with the introduction of modern digital technologies were discussed.

During the 9th Meeting, the participants supported the draft concept of cooperation between the SCO Member States on the development of interconnection and the creation of efficient transport corridors, prepared by the Uzbek side, and agreed to submit this document for approval during the planned meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO in 2022.

As a result of the meeting, the relevant protocol of the ministers of transport of the SCO member states was signed.
