BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. Uzbekistan and France plan to create an Uzbek-French joint Chamber of Commerce, Trend reports via the press service of the Uzbek President.
The matter was discussed between Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and a French delegation headed by Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade, Economic Attractiveness, and French Nationals Abroad, Oliver Becht.
Over the past few years, the level of mutual trade between Uzbekistan and France has shown considerable positive dynamics.
According to the latest data from Uzbek State Statistics Committee, Uzbekistan and France increased the bilateral trade turnover by more than 2.2 times from January through March 2023, compared to the same period of 2022, from $90.8 million up to $206.8 million.
The exports from Uzbekistan to France amounted to $97.1 million, while imports – were $109.6 million.
In 2022, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and France made up $339.5 million - an increase of 20.9 percent, compared to 2021 ($280.8 million).
It should be noted that besides the trade relations, the countries have already established cooperation in the various fields, and that was pointed out at the meeting.
Throughout the talks, the parties noted the progress on joint projects implemented in the field of "green" energy, extractive industry, tourism, utility networks, etc.
Furthermore, during the meeting, the sides emphasized the growing interest of French companies to implement projects for the development of the following fields in Uzbekistan: urban planning, transport, textile industry, and production of construction materials.
