TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 10. As of July 1, 2023, Uzbekistan's gold and foreign exchange reserves amounted to $33.72 billion, Trend reports.

As indicated in the monthly report of the country's Central Bank, as of June 1, the gold and foreign exchange reserves stood at around $34.37 billion, indicating a decrease of more than $649 million over the past month.

According to the Ministry of Finance, Uzbekistan's gross international reserves have decreased by $1.8 billion, or 5 percent, since year-start.

"This change is explained by the decline in the price of gold from $1,812 to $1,810 at the beginning of the year, the decrease in the amount of commercial banks' balances in the Central Bank, as well as currency interventions carried out by the Central Bank," the bank says.

According to the World Gold Council, in May, Uzbekistan ranked second in the world in terms of gold sales (11 tons). At the same time, Türkiye took the first place, exporting 63 tons of gold.
