TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 12. Joint projects worth $13 billion are currently being implemented in Uzbekistan with the help of South Korean funding, Trend reports.
The news followed the First round of Strategic Dialogue between Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and South Korea on September 12 in Seoul. The platform is aimed at strengthening mutual trust and a close partnership between the two countries. The agenda of the dialogue included issues of further strengthening bilateral relations in all spheres of business, with special attention paid to enriching economic diplomacy.
"Minister of Foreign Affairs of Korea Park Jin and I welcome more than 300 representatives of leading companies from both Uzbekistan and South Korea to the business forum. Joint projects worth about $13 billion are currently being implemented in Uzbekistan. The number of enterprises operating in our country with the participation of South Korean capital has doubled over the past 4 years. There are much more opportunities for further expansion of cooperation", Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov said.
Earlier this month, the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) allocated a grant package of $15 million for the development of Uzbekistan's healthcare infrastructure, including a national program aimed at training employees of the sanitary and epidemiological service and the public health system on the basis of the Tashkent Medical Academy.
