TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 28. The President of Uzbekistan has approved a project on the creation of a Yangi Avlod special industrial zone on an area of 664.5 hectares in the Yangihayot district of Tashkent, Trend reports.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was familiarized with draft documents aimed at the development of industry, services, and infrastructure in Tashkent on February 27.

The creation of a special Yangi Avlod industrial zone in Yangihayot district is aimed at increasing the city's industrial potential and launching high-tech-based industries.

The 664.5-hectare industrial zone is planned to attract foreign direct investment worth $1.5 billion, create 2,500 new jobs, manufacture industrial products worth more than 1 trillion soums per year, and export goods worth $5 million. More than 800 enterprises are expected to be located there.

According to acting Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov, the new industrial zone will differ from other zones in having special conditions for production per hectare of occupied area.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan will launch the Ipak Yuli Free Economic Zone (FEZ) in Andijan district.

According to a decree by Uzbekistan's president Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the FEZ will be established on 218.18 hectares of land.

Ipak Yuli will focus on attracting local and foreign investments, as well as producing goods in demand abroad and import-substituting products.
