Uzbekistan experiences surge in number of tourists traveling abroad in 7M2024

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 8. The number of tourists from Uzbekistan travelling abroad amounted to 3.4 million from January through July 2024, Trend reports.

According to the data from Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, this figure increased by 35.7 percent (890,500 people) compared to the same period last year.

Kyrgyzstan turned out to be the most popular tourist destination for Uzbek nationals (1.6 million people).

Tajikistan came in second place with a whopping 676,400 individuals, closely followed by Kazakhstan with 526,400 folks. Russia had a respectable count of 159,700 people, while Türkiye had 123,000 souls. Saudi Arabia had a decent showing with 106,500 individuals, and the UAE had a fair share of 70,600 people. Egypt had a modest count of 22,200 folks, while Kuwait had 16,700 residents. South Korea had a mere 12,300 individuals, and other countries accounted for 91,500 people.

Meanwhile, the number of foreign tourists visiting Uzbekistan amounted to 4.2 million from January through July 2024, which is more than 15.3 percent (562,500 people) compared to the same period last year.

Amongst all the countries, Kyrgyzstan took the cake for having the lion's share of tourists who flocked to Uzbekistan during this period - a whopping 1.2 million people.
