The Turkish Army's fighter jets continued targeting positions of PKK rebels along the borders of the Iraqi Kurdistan region last evening, Fars News Agency reported.

The Turkish Army's fighter jets bombed Amidi and Matin regions in Iraq's Northern region for one hour last night, the agency says.

Witnesses said that the PKK opened fire on the Turkish fighter jets.

The Turkish government has intensified anti-terror fight as new deaths in the Southeast brought the terror toll in Turkey to 37 since Aug 17.

Turkey has increased its pressure on administrators in Iraq over the presence and activities of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, in the country with demands that they share intelligence and cut the group's logistic channels.

Turkey has also demanded human and technical intelligence from Iran on the PKK's hideouts in the Kandil Mountains.

Turkey launched a fresh diplomatic campaign towards its Southern neighbor, Iraq, following the rise in the militants' attacks since mid-July, which have killed dozens of security forces as well as civilians and pushed the government to adopt a new anti-terror strategy.

Last week, forces of the Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps troops purged Iran's Northwestern regions of PJAK terrorists and stationed along the borders.

The forces deployed along the borders after the Iranian armed forces conducted a series of massive military operations inside the country's territories to root out the anti-Iran terrorist group.
