(IRNA) - Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Monday that the Research and Development (R&D) for nuclear program will be completed soon citing the start of second cascade of centrifuges which was put into operation in the context of Safeguards Agreement of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Elaborating on Iranian commitment to Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and negotiations with the Group 5+1 (permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany), he said that both IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei and the European Union (EU) foreign policy and security chief Javier Solana are informed on the process of the R&D program, reports Trend.

Mottaki said in his address to International Conference on 'Central Asia and the Caucasus' that unfortunately, the outcome of four rounds of negotiations between Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Larijani and Solana has been overshadowed by political objectives being pursued by a certain state.

Military Exercise in the Persian Gulf Asked about the scheduled military exercise of the US and several other countries in the Persian Gulf, he said that it is an ordinary event adding that of course some arrangements may be provocative citing the time of the exercise.

"We have already acknowledged our sensitivity about any possible provocative arrangement of the US military exercise to the regional states," Mottaki said.

"Iran also carries its own military exercises in the Persian Gulf and any other parts of the region,."
