Iran, Azerbaijan discuss establishment of power transmission line

Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian and Azerbaijani Economy and Industry Minister Shahin Mustafayev held talks in Tehran on Sept. 17, to boost cooperation in power sector.

The two sides discussed the establishment of a power transmission line, participation in the implementation of renewable energy projects, and expansion of power trade, Iran's Mehr news agency reported on September 17.

After Chitchian met with Mustafayev, the deputy ministers of the two countries also met, behind closed doors.

Iranian deputy energy minister Houshang Falahatian said after the meeting that a new power transmission line between the two countries is projected to come on stream by the next six months.

The new line will increase the power transmission capacity by 600 megawatts, he added.
