Iran has issued a tender to develop the Kish gas refinery and started evaluating applicant companies from South Korea, Japan, France and China, says Abdolreza Haji-Hosseinnejad, head of Iran's Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC).

The selected foreign company should establish a joint venture with a domestic company to develop the Kish gas refinery project worth $800 million, he told Mehr news agency May 13.

Haji-Hosseinnejad also said that the drilling of 14 onshore wells at the first phase of Iran's Kish gas field has made 75 percent progress so far.

Drilling of the wells is expected to be completed by March 2017, he added.

The first phase is intended to yield 25 million cubic meters of gas and 11,300 barrels of gas condensate a day.

The field holds about 1.1 trillion cubic meters of gas, as well as about 398 million barrels of gas condensate.
