Iran increased gas supply of households significantly during the last fiscal year that ended on March 21.
According to an Oil Ministry report, obtained by Trend June 13, some 22,300 kilometers of gas supply network was constructed nationwide during the last fiscal year, expanding the network to 287,300 kilometers across the country.
More than 6,200 villages and 60 cities have been supplied with gas between March 2013 and March 2016. Therefore, a total of 1,062 cities and 20,408 villages have been supplied with gas by March 2016.
It should be mentioned that 2,886 villages and 24 cities were supplied with gas in the previous fiscal year.
By March 2016, some 66 percent of rural units and 97 percent of urban units (equaling 90 percent of total gas supply network) were supplied with natural gas, and the figure will reach 97 percent by March 2018.
