Iran, Japan sign MoU on water management

Iran and Japan signed an agreement for technological cooperation on the second phase of improving the capacity of integrated management of water resources at Iran’s Sefidrud River.

The MoU was signed by Masahiro Ukei, heading the JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) delegation that will be working with Iran, and an advisor to the Iranian minister of energy, Mehr news agency reported June 18.

To be implemented in the course of four years, that project will include clarifying the resources and usages of the Sefidrud basin, enhancing management capabilities in regard to allocating water to various sectors, creating consensus among related sides for integrated management, prioritizing the basin’s problems and implementing related projects.
