Trend:

As a result of reduce in precipitation, water level in the Zayandeh River has dropped, and Isfahan's only hydroelectric power station has stopped operating, director of Zayandeh River Hydropower station (HPS) Mahmoud Chitchian said.

According to him, the 13-year drought in the region has affected the power generation of HPS and has led to a decline in production over these years. Thus, on October 13, Isfahan's only HPS stopped its operation.

He said that the HPS has played a major role as a support station, adding that the plant's production was about 60,000 megawatts. However, its production capacity was 250,000 megawatts per year.
