Iran’s PetroPars to expand Phase 11 of South Pars Gas Field

Iran’s PetroPars company will fully expand Phase 11 of the South Pars Gas Field, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh told reporters, Trend reports citing Shana news agency.

The minister made the remarks after being closely acquainted with activities of Mapna company, which is involved in development and execution of thermal and renewable power plants, oil and gas, railway transportation and other industrial projects.

Zangeneh said that PetroPars will install the first platform as part of this phase by the end of this Iranian year (March 21, 2020).

The minister added that the platform will produce about 14.1 million cubic meters of gas daily.

“Issues related to this phase are under the discussions with Mapna and other companies,” the minister said.

The Iranian minister confirmed that a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) pulled out of the project of Iran’s South Pars Gas Field.

The South Pars/North Dome field is the world’s biggest gas field shared by Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf. It is estimated that the field has 51 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves, of which 36 trillion cubic meters of gas can be extracted.
