Iran's Abadan Oil Refinery's development continues

TEHRAN, Iran, August 19. The development of Abadan Oil Refinery, Iran's oldest refinery, had 95 percent progress, Trend reports citing IRNA.

About 28 percent of the progress in the development of phase two in the refinery, was achieved during the past ten months of the new administration.

The new crude distillation unit in phase two will have a production capacity of 150,000 barrels per day, which would increase the refinery's production to 360,000 barrels per day.

In addition to stabilizing the production capacity, all products will be refined in hydrogen units in phase two and will elevate gasoline and diesel quality to the Euro-5 standard.

Costing $3.2 billion, the venture includes the installation of a new crude distillation unit to replace three old units built 70 years ago.

The development project to expand and renovate Abadan Refinery in Khuzestan Province is expected to be completed in the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2022). Abadan Refinery supplies 25 percent of Iran's fuel.
