The official opening of a reconstructed laboratory of the Adjaran branch of the National Center for Disease Control will be held at 1:00 p.m. March 2 in Batumi.

The laboratory was restored under a U.S. state program to reduce threats by the Threat Reduction Agency and Georgian Labor, Health and Social Protection Ministry, the National Disease Center told Trend .

The laboratory will be of great importance for the further development of public health laboratory capacity in the country, which will significantly improve the epidemiological situation in the country and the region though the timely and accurate diagnosis of infectious diseases.

The opening ceremony will be attended by the Adjaran and Georgian health ministers, U.S. Ambassador John Bass and other officials.
