Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec. 18 / Trend, N. Kirtskhalia /
Ex-Prime Minister of Georgia Nika Gilauri is testifying before the Financial Police of Georgia.
For two hours, Gilauri has been giving evidence concerning the sale of Rica Recreational Zone in front of the presidential palace in Tbilisi, Minister of Finance said on Tuesday.
This historic corner of Tbilisi was sold to a private company that did not fulfill its obligations towards the creation of a recreational area. Two years later Tbilisi City Hall bought this territory for 17 million lari ($ 1 = 1.66 Lari), although they are selling it for only seven million.
Georgia's new authorities suspect corruption and are trying to identify the perpetrators.
Gilauri at that time was Minister of Finance of Georgia.
It should be noted that Vice Mayor of Tbilisi, the head of the architectural services and other officials at town hall have already been interviewed concerning this matter.
Specific perpetrators have not been named yet.
