Georgian president and head of PACE discuss the country's democratic development

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili met in Strasbourg with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Jean-Claude Mignon on Monday. Among the main topics of the meeting were the process of democratic development, the role of cooperation with PACE in this direction and adopted resolutions on Russia.

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili met in Strasbourg with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Jean-Claude Mignon on Monday. Among the main topics of the meeting were the process of democratic development, the role of cooperation with PACE in this direction and adopted resolutions on Russia.

As reported on the official page of Saakashvili on Facebook, Jean-Claude Mignon once more stressed the need to take into account those PACE resolutions that contribute to de-occupation of Georgian territories and settling of humanitarian problems.

For its part, Saakashvili thanked PACE for legal and political assessment of the Georgian-Russian conflict.

Mignon expressed willingness to support the implementation of obligations under resolution.

After the meeting, the President of Georgia and Jean-Claude Mignon answered the questions.

Mikheil Saakashvili is in Strasbourg at the personal invitation of the head of PACE. On Monday, he will speak at the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe
